Irvine High School has been named a 2026 California Distinguished School. This designation is the state鈥檚 top honor for schools.
California Distinguished Schools are selected based on key indicators tied to the California School Dashboard, which is the state鈥檚 primary school accountability and improvement tool. Indicators reflect test scores, suspension rates, conditions and school climate. In total, 408 California high schools and middle schools were honored through this year鈥檚 Distinguished Schools program, with 44 in Orange County.

Schools are automatically reviewed every two years. Elementary and K鈥8 schools were , and middle and high schools will be reviewed next in 2028.

The 2026 California Distinguished School will be recognized in Anaheim on April 24, 2026.
